Jet-photon conversion with energy loss in Heavy Ion Collisions Li-juan Zhou Institute of Particle Physics Central China Normal Univeristy Thanks to my collaborators: Enke Wang , Ben-Wei Zhang and Hanzhong Zhang 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU

Outline Motivation Introduction to photon measurement Jet-photon conversion with energy loss Conclusion 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU

Motivation for photon measurement Don’t interact strongly, long mean free path. The photon production rate and the photon momentum distribution depend on the momentum distributions of the quarks, antiquarks, and gluons in the plasma. 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU

Photon sources in PP collisions Direct photons: Fragmentations Decay photons: , etc. Annihilation q + q   + g Compton q + g   + q 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU

Jet-photon conversion Jet-photon conversion is an important source for AA collisions: R.J.Fries, B.Muller and D.K.Srivastava PRL 90, 132301 (2003) Hard scattered parton interacts with gluon in bulk matter 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU

Jet-photon conversion The results consistent with the calculation of PRC 72, (2005) 014906 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU

Conclusion Jet-photon conversion is an important source for AA collisions: High-pT (> 6 GeV/c) photons are dominantly produced in hard scattering (jet-photon conversion) The jet quenching effect will decrease the rate of jet -photon conversion in high momentum The jet-photon conversion would provide information about energy loss 2019/7/25 Lijuan-Zhou CCNU
