Main Features of a New PSC <month year> doc.: IEEE 802.15-<doc#> Main Features of a New PSC <author>, <company>

Distinctive features for PSC SG Wide range of dynamic link rates: For data rate of 100 kbps to 500Mbps Infrastructureless n-to-m communications High Precision localization Fast association (particularly in mobile envir.)

PHY Features Dynamic link rates: Data rate for discovery and sensing/actuation : 100kbps-1Mbps Data rate for data transmission: 5-500Mbps Discovery and short data transmission range of hundreds of meters Data transmission range of 30 meters Localization Use of unlicensed bands °C

MAC Features (1) Supports dynamic link rates n-to-m communications Fast association Coverage extension (Relay) °C

Existing 802 standards IEEE 802.11, 802.16, 802.22 IEEE 802.15.1 High power IEEE 802.15.1 Medium rate IEEE 802.15.3 MAC and High rate only IEEE 802.15.4 Low rate only IEEE 802.15.5 Separation of Low and High rate. IEEE 802.15.6 Short range (5 meters).

Need for a new Standard Existing standards can serve parts of the PSC, but no single standard optimized for all features for PSC. Therefore, there is a need for a new standard to serve the PSC applications.
