Presentation transcript:

Add and Subtract I can add doubles up to 20. I can use materials or drawings to show how numbers fit together to 20. I can make organised lists showing the numbers that fit together to 20. I can add doubles up to 20.

I can use a jump strategy e.g. 9 + 4 = 9 + 1 + 3. I can use facts to 20 to help me add or subtract beyond 20 ( e.g. 8+4 = 8+2 (10) +2). I can use a number line to show how I count on or back to add or subtract. I can think about addition to help me subtract (e.g. for 13 – 8, think 8 add what makes 13.) I can use a jump strategy e.g. 9 + 4 = 9 + 1 + 3.

I can skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s to help me add or subtract. I can use materials or drawings to show the parts and the whole in a number story. I can skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s to help me add or subtract. I can use a part-part-whole diagram to show a story. I can record my thinking as a number story.

I can use the add, subtract and equals keys on a calculator. I can name some of the keys on a calculator. I can enter a given number into a calculator. I can use correct mathematical vocabulary when discussing add and subtract. E.G. how many altogether? total number, minus, the difference between, subtract, less.
