6-4 Squares and Rhombi Objectives: To recognize and apply the properties of squares and rhombi.
Vocabulary Rhombus/Rhombi Square
Definitions A rhombus is a quadrilateral with four congruent sides. Since opposite sides are congruent, a rhombus is a parallelogram. A square is a quadrilateral with four right angles and four congruent sides. Squares are also considered rhombi, rectangles, and parallelograms.
Theorems Theorem 6-11 Theorem 6-12 Theorem 6-13 The diagonals of a rhombus are perpendicular. Theorem 6-12 If the diagonals of a parallelogram are perpendicular, then the parallelogram is a rhombus. Theorem 6-13 Each diagonal of a rhombus bisects a pair of opposite angles.
