Rational and Irrational Numbers A rational number can always be written exactly in the form where a and b are integer values. In other words a rational number can be written as a whole number of fraction e.g.  , 1 , 5.14 , 0.3333.....

An irrational number cannot be written in the form are all irrational numbers.
