Par Osias Pierre Richard

The usual position for adverbs used with simple tenses (present, imperfect, simple, future, ect.) is directly following the conjugated verb. Ex: Il finit facilement ses devoirs. Elles répondent bien aux questions. Many adverbs of time, place, frequency and manner may also be placed at the beginning or the end of a sentence. Ex: Demain, nous allons partir. Nous allons partir demain.

Any adverb that depends on the verb for its meaning, such as adverbs of quantity, must be placed directly after the verb. Ex: Il parle assez en cours. Vous allez trop au café.

Rappel In French an adverb can never be placed after the subject, as is often done in English. English French I finally speak French. Je parle enfin le français Pierre always arrives on time. Pierre arrive toujours a lheure

Here are some commonly used adverbs. Time Place Frequency Aujourdhui ici deja Demain la enfin Hier là-bas jamais Maintenant nulle part souvent Tard Partout toujours Vite quelque part
