Deposition

What is deposition? Deposition: process of sediment (rocks, gravel, sand, silt, etc.) settling out of water or wind.

Another way to think of it . . . . What is deposition? Another way to think of it . . . . The natural sorting of sediments in streambeds, lakebeds, beaches, hillsides, etc.

Factors that affect deposition: Density- sediments that are more dense will sort out first and be left behind before sediments of less density

Factors that affect deposition: Size- Sediments of larger size will sort out before sediments of smaller size if they are equally dense

Example of deposition
