It was 173 lbs. !

Boom Towns! A boom town is a town that has grown very rapidly as a result of sudden prosperity. All over California towns were “booming” thanks to miners and immigrants coming to find gold!

Almost $2 million today!

Trail Pioneers.

Pause and do first 3 parts of comic

Draw a picture depicting that question. You can label what’s going on and/or use quotes the people might have said. “Honey, I’m going west to get rich!” Miners went west in hopes of getting rich

So why was the gold rush important? Lots of immigrants came to California (needed jobs!) Lots of diversity- this also caused problems A TON of trade and business made California “booming” In September 1850…. California becomes a state.
