Cultural Diversity and Sociology The Adaptive American Culture The long history of immigration to the United States has resulted in an American culture that embraces values, behaviors, and material culture from other cultures around the world. Latino influence is especially strong as Hispanics are the largest minority group Influences food, clothes, and cars available Latino holidays are celebrated Spanish-language advertisements are common South Asians are becoming a larger and larger portion of U.S. population Pakistani and Indian food has quickly become more popular Bollywood movies are popular

THE CHOPSTICK CHALLENGE EXPERIMENT: Culture and Diversity Challenges Each student will receive a bowl with chopsticks, Sour Patch Kids, and Smarties. Students will break open their chopsticks and practice holding them. Then, with a partner, students will time each other on how long it takes his or her partner to move both types of candies from a provided paper towel into the provided bowl. After students have practiced, they will then race to see who can move the candies in the quickest amount of time.
