The Types of Colleges Available Non-Profit or For-Profit For-profit - The school’s first priority is to make a profit Non-profit - The students are the top priority! Public or Private Public schools - tend to be larger and have a cheaper sticker price due to state funding Private schools - tend to be smaller and have more expensive sticker price with greater institutional aid Two Year or Four Year Two year colleges - highest degree offered is an associate’s degree Four year colleges - highest degree offered is a bachelor’s degree
