Presentation transcript:

Start The working model was developed by On each domino type an answer and another question. Print page per slide and hand out 1 to each student in a random order. You start with the first slide ask the question – student with the answer has to come and lay the domino down at the front and ask the next question and so it continues. This can also be used in teams, use a set of dominoes for each team and the first team to complete the set wins. Click here for the PowerPoint download

of the Working Memory are Baddeley and Hitch of the Working Memory are The key components

The Central Executive The Visuo Spatial Sketchpad The phonological Loop works

Modality Free The CE has control over

The Slave Components slave component Which is known as the inner eye

Visuo Spatial Sketchpad We use the VSSP for

Spatial Tasks The phonological loop deals with

‘Sound based’ Information The phonological loop has 2 parts

Phonological store and the Articulatory Loop The Phonological store is sometimes referred to as the

Inner Ear – as it stores acoustics Loop is sometimes The Articulatory referred to as the

Inner ear The articulatory loop has

One strength of the MSM is Limited capacity One strength of the MSM is

Physiological evidence from PET scans Cohen found

Broca’s area was activated when completing a verbal task and the occipital lobe was activated when doing a visual task Further support for the MSM

A weakness of the study is Is we can do 2 DIFFERENT tasks at the same time. This is because they take up space in different stores and so do not interfere with one another A weakness of the study is

Why is the WM not a complete understanding of memory The CE is oversimplified. It does not explain HOW it works or HOW it is modality free. Why is the WM not a complete understanding of memory

Unclear how it links to LTM or how memories are transferred to LTM The End
