5-3 slope-intercept form

Slope-intercept form of a line A line can be written in the form y = mx + b m = slope b = y-intercept (where the line crosses the y axis)

To Graph To graph y = mx + b Plot the y-intercept on the graph first From there, use the slope to find other points

Find slope and y-intercept and graph a) y = 3 4 x - 2 b) y = -5x + 3

Writing slope intercept form given (m) and (b) a) m = 7, b = -4 b) m = 3 5 , b = 9

Slope intercept for when given two coordinates Steps: Use the points to find the slope (m) Use the slope and one of the coordinates to solve for the y-intercept (b). Put the slope and y-intercept into the equation y = mx + b.
