1 In this chapter we discuss the Fur Trade that took place between Canada and Europe. We look at the two largest Fur Trading companies – Hudson’s Bay Company & North West Company This chapter also discusses the European exploration across Canada to the West Coast

2 They are the independent European fur traders. They made fur trading deals with the First Nations

3 Britain won the Seven years war After Britain won, New France became a British Possession

4 They had a good relationship that was very equal The fur traders had no desire to conquer the First Nations or change their ways of living– this built a trust among the groups and a mutual appreciation
