QQ: What things affect the amount of ground water present in an area? How has the amount of water present on Earth today changes from the days of dinosaurs? List a five of ways the humans affect the water cycle. What is the largest greenhouse gas?

What things affect the amount of ground water present in an area? Amount of water used Changes in weather and climate Type of soil & rock Ground cover (grass vs asphalt) Slope of ground Air temperature Land use Surface runoff

The amount of water is the same although its distribution changes 2. How has the amount of water present on Earth today changes from the days of dinosaurs? The amount of water is the same although its distribution changes

Recharing the aquifer (pits & injection) 3. List a five of ways humans affect the water cycle. Recharing the aquifer (pits & injection) Storing water reduces runoff (sea level drops) Great withdrawls for irrigation, industry, and human use Add substances to the water (intentional & unintentional) Deforestation

What is the largest greenhouse gas?

Fresh water: naturally occurring water having low concentration of salt & other solids Includes ice sheets, ice caps, glaciers, icebergs, surface H2O, & groundwater Excludes seawater & brackish H2O

The measure of all salts dissolved in H2O Salinity The measure of all salts dissolved in H2O

Seawater: water from sea or ocean. Average salinity is about 3.5% or 35 parts per thousand. This means that for every 1 liter of seawater there are 35 grams of salts dissolved in it.

Brackish water: * more salinity than freshwater but not as much as seawater * result from mixing of seawater with fresh water, as in estuaries brackish fossil aquifers.
