Barriers to job Success We can avoid many barriers to our success by knowing and following employer’s policies and procedures.

Failing to meet conditional employment requirements Some people are hired with the understanding they will meet certain requirements within a specific amount of time. Examples : a high school diploma or equivalent , getting a professional license, or a certification. Not having (or losing ) a driver’s license If driving is an important part of your job, the loss of your driver's license might cause you to lose your job.

Drug convictions and other criminal records. Failing a drug test Many employers requires regular drug testing. Failure to pass a drug test may lead to your suspension. Drug convictions and other criminal records. You may be required to report drug and other convictions to your employer.

Accommodations Employers are required to help their employees overcome certain workplace barriers. Disability If you have or develop or mental disability, your employer may be to make workplace adjustments that allow you to continue working. On the job injury Your employer carries insurance to protect you if you are injured on the job. It is important to tell your supervisor immediately if you are injured on the job.
