Project Mindstorm

Since 1860 our purpose is to provide a positive alternative for boys and girls to being out on the streets. The club does this by promoting character development through activities that develop skills in certain areas.

$5,400.00 The problem is we have been given $5,400 to use towards STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math). The money can be used for supplies, resources, and incentives. If not used this money will be lost, and it can be harder to get approved in the future for more funds.

Solution: Lego Mindstorm Kits Lego Mindstorm Kits give the Boys and Girls at the club an intro to robotics, programming, and improves upon their math skills as they get a taste of what engineers do. MINDSTORM KIT VIDEO

Plan For Mindstorm Kits Purchase a classroom set of Lego Mindstorm kits Take the kits to each location rotating from club to club Leave a set with each club upon completion of lessons

Obtaining the kits Purchase a classroom set costing $2,419.95 Download the software to run the robots to 8 of the clubs Samsung tablets Storage Containers

Using The Mindstorm Kits A classroom set supplies us with 8 full kits Spend 2 days at a time with each club going through the lessons Start with 3 clubs, rotating between them for five lessons each, then switch to the other 3 Total time to complete will be 45 weeks

STEM Qualifications STEM Educational Benefits

Cost $2,419.95 45 weeks of class time

Benefits Teens will Build communication skills Develop strategic thinking Become goal oriented Exercise their creative side Have fun playing with lego robots

Conclusion This will fulfill our requirement for using the grant money The kids will love this for years to come
