Presentation transcript:

Sight

What does it mean to “see”? You see an image if it reflects light to your eyes. This process lets your brain form an image.

Parts of the eye The Cornea A clear membrane that protects the eye. Allows light to enter.

Parts of the eye The Pupil The opening in the eye that light enters through. Can contract or expand in relation to the amount of light available.

Parts of the eye The Retina A layer of light sensitive cells Packed with photoreceptors Rods Sensitive to dim light Important for night vision Cones Sensitive to bright light Allows you to see colors and fine details

Finding Your Blind Spot

Parts of the eye The photoreceptors change light into electrical impulses. Send the impulses to the optic nerve at the back of the eye. Carries the impulses to your brain.

Do you wear glasses or contacts?
