If the zoo adopts a prairie dog the habitat should be set up as follows: GRASSLAND Big open spaces Warm and Dry Short-grass prairies Very few trees and shrubs , less than one tree per acre Food: grasses, seeds, leaves, flowers, fruit, eggs, and some insects Shelter: Burrow underground

Some animals that can also be found here are ferrets, lions, and ostriches. Some plants that can be found here are milkweed, poison ivy, sunflowers, goldenrod, and clover.
