Your Task Using your knowledge of camera angles and distances create a digital storyboard, using 16 shots Choose one of the following scenes: A teacher taking a secret note from a student A bully demanding money from a victim The delivery of a mysterious letter If they haven’t already watched it, the basic camera shots video will give them an idea of how you can use a variety of shots to tell a simple narrative.
Use an example of each different type of shot. (Remember you can combine distance and angle – i.e. a high angle medium shot) You can use some shots more than once. Plan your ideas in your folder or on your tablet first.
Remember the effect on the audience Why might you use… An establishing shot? A close up? A high angle? Over to you..remember choose your camera shots carefully to create a specific effect for the audience. ES - To set the scene so that the audience know where the action is taking place CU - To focus on something important HA – to show someone is less powerful
Using the digital stills camera. Remember.. T = telephoto – zooming in – use this to get closer to the subject W = widescreen – zooming out – use this to get further away from the subject ANGLE – position yourself above or below the subject to get high and low angles.
Evaluating your choices Against each image write down the name of the camera distance and/or angle Briefly explain why you chose it, for example.. ‘I chose the close up of the mysterious note because it was an important object in the scene and I wanted the audience to focus on it.’
