Ch 12.1 Graph Linear Equations

12.1 Vocabulary 1 Linear Slope-Intercept Equation: y = mx + b An equation whose solutions fall on a line on the coordinate plane. All points on line are solutions of the equation A constant change in the x-value corresponds to a constant change in the y-value. x and y values have exponent of 1. m = slope, and b = y-intercept

12.1 Vocabulary 2 x-value: independent variable (like time) put on the horizontal axis (left-right). y-value: dependent variable (like height) put on the vertical axis (up-down). Coordinate Pair: the pair of x- and y-values that together locate a point on a graph (x,y). Coordinate Plane: the perpendicular x and y axes that intersect to make a grid for graphs.
