Mating The females court the males in the relationships. The mating season is the end of fall. Harp seals get new mates every season. Fun Fact: Males will dance to get the best mate! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu2T6MrqUPQ

Pregnancy Females carry the pup. Gestation periods are 7.5 months long. The pup is delivered vaginally. Fun Fact: A group of harp seals are called “rookery” or “colony”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzUmK62bVnc

Offspring The offspring is always raised by the mother. There is only one offspring per mating season. The mom will bring the food to the pup until they are big enough to go on their own. Fun Fact: Harp seals the swim away from the group are called “vagrants”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0NGMzIX5Nk
