“YOU are SMART enough and YOU are STRONG enough to RESOLVE PROBLEMS!!”

A small problem is one where a student is capable of solving on their own. making noises when you’re trying to work pushing in line taking too long at the drinking fountain “saving a swing” not sharing a toy knocking your coat on the floor not following the rules of a games whispering during class following you at recess cutting in line calling you silly names borrowing a pencil without asking

BIG problems are those that are scary and dangerous and that need an adult’s help to resolve. physical aggression (hitting, kicking, pushing, throwing) damage to property fighting swearing weapons running away stealing threats smoking / alcohol / drugs talking to a stranger being touched by someone and it makes them feel uncomfortable
