Conclusions of the CDR

CDR conclusions and recommendations Characterisation conclusions   The in situ characterisation for chlorophyll and the diffuse attenuation coefficient has produced some useable results. The in situ nLw characterisation will undergo additional work within the next couple of months to tie up the loose ends and come to a final set of conclusions The sensor cross characterisation has shown that this changes with the different acquisition situations (observation conditions, seasonal variations and regional sensitivity). We propose that the results are not pre-applied to the sensors, but used as an error input to the merging process.

CDR conclusions and recommendations Products selection (1/3)   YSBPA is only

CDR conclusions and recommendations Products selection (2/3)   Investigate the alternative of providing Bbp products

CDR conclusions and recommendations Products selection (3/3)   Deviation from a given radiance range at 560 nm Daily PAR (TBC at QR)

CDR conclusions and recommendations Merging methods final pre-selection   Criteria for selection: Robustness Sensitivity to error propagation (deviation as well as bias) Lower dependency on characterisation Computational feasibility Based on DJF v2.0 candidates are: (weighted) averaging GSM01 Optimal interpolation (1 test to assess criticality of global extension)

CDR conclusions and recommendations PPS characteristics selection Months: July 2002; October 2002; January 2003; April 2003. Dates TBC by July 31, 2006 PPS will include: level 3 products at instrument level level 3 merged products as daily, weekly and monthly averaged products mapped on a common 4.6km grid.   Delivery date: 29th September 2006
