Contextual Activity Sampling System

Contextual Activity Sampling System CASS-Query tool, based on Contextual Activity Sampling System, is a Java-application for collecting process- and context-sensitive data. It allows you to gather data about various learners and workers experiences, feelings and thoughts in daily situations and settings where they are evoked. It can be run in 3G mobile phones and used freely without charge. If you are a researcher or knowledge worker planning to explore how the participants of your study perceive and feel about their daily activities, the CASS-Query may be suitable tool for you. It can be tailored and elaborated for your particular needs.

Contextual Activity Sampling System CASS-Query enables you to create queries that the participants of your study receive to their mobile phones. Queries can contain various questions with different types of responses: Open text, Likert scale, picture, video and audio recording. Responses are returned to server database once the participant indicates that it is completed.

Contextual Activity Sampling System Data collected with CASS-Query can be transformed to SPSS software. You can use the data, e.g., for creating graphical illustrations about the responses received during the follow- ups. CASS-Query thus provides its users with a window into their daily experiences and helps them to expand their knowledge about how these experiences temporally coincide with various activities, settings and environments during the day.

Contextual Activity Sampling System CASS-Admin, the management system of CASS queries, enables you to flexible adjust desired sampling procedures. It is thus up to you to decide whether to send the queries in fixed intervals or selected by the participants themselves on a certain moment. With CASS Admin you can download queries to server database, monitor the accumulation of data in real time as well as search and browse participant info and data.
