Identify the following individuals:

Activity: Students in groups of six will derive a definition of the term Government. Each group will present their definition to the class using the sheets of bristol board provided.

Activity: Students in their various groups will identify at least three solutions to one of the following problems: a. Flooding. b. Crime. c. Unemployment. d. Land Pollution. e. Air Pollution. f. Water Pollution. The solutions will be presented to the class.

Reasons why a Government is needed: 1.To help ensure that there is order in the country. 2.It is better to give the authority to a few selected individuals who are qualified to make laws. 3. It is impossible to have every citizen involved in the process of making laws.

Activity: Students in their various groups will identify five responsibilities of the Government which will be presented to the class using sheets of bristol board.

Closure: Students will recap the main points of the lesson.

Homework: Students are to write about ten lines on what the Government can do to encourage students to become healthy citizens.
