Understanding Protein-Protein Interactions on Biosensor Surfaces Vincent Chang Mentor: Lisa Plucinski

Overview Learn how to use the COMSOL application Use COMSOL models to understand the fundamentals of reaction kinetics and surface binding

Program Used COMSOL Multiphysics 5.1 Transport and Adsorption Modeling phenomena of surface binding in different dimensions (3D to 2D).

Progress Creating a 2D model that displays the concentration of the reacting species at various areas of the surface through time Understanding the physics behind why surface concentration of reacting species vary through position and time Understanding reaction rates on surface binding through time

Future Goals Obtain experimental data for biotin-streptavidin binding on a biosensor with a microfluidic channel Explore how various experimental parameters impact protein-binding kinetics Explore methods to fit experimental data to models

Sources All information is received through COMSOL Multiphysics 5.1 Transport and Adsorption
