Contents MESA’S TTG4 1st Workshop on e-Maritime Introduction MESA Definition and Scope of e-Maritime Questionnaire Agenda

Introduction Objectives of MESA’s 1st e-Maritime Workshop To provide an initial assessment of the current maritime technologies related to e-Maritime and e-Navigation, their technological development and expected achievements To identify relevant projects and focus on the current state-of- the-art of European and national research projects To identify opportunities for cooperation and information exchange between the current projects and initiatives, in the context of future visions To identify opportunities for implementation of related e- Maritime achievements

MESA Definition and Scope of e-Maritime “e-Maritime is defined as the use of information exchange technology to establish more efficient cooperation between the ship and the parties onshore, including: ship operations, ports, authority functions, transport logistics and others, for the facilitation of maritime transport” e-Maritime will increase the competitiveness of maritime transport, improve safety, security, environmental performance and increase the attractiveness of the seafaring profession

MESA Definition and Scope of e-Maritime “e-Maritime is implemented through the development of information exchange technology, as well as through improvements in organisational and legal constraints” Scope: “Limited to issues that support more efficient cooperation and that improve the information management involving the ship, which is the central part of the maritime transport system”

MESA Definition of e-Maritime MESA’s definition establishes that the "ship" is the principal focus of the interactions between stakeholders, including certain functions that may be performed by organisations onshore

Questionnaire I would like you to answer the questions in the Questionnaire, in order to help MESA’s Thematic Technology Group (TTG4) on e- Maritime form a comprehensive overview of the research status and technology achievements of e-Maritime in Europe Thank you
