4-3 Standard Form AGAIN Goal: Write the equation of a line in Standard Form given the slope and a point or two points. Eligible Content: A1.1.2.1.1 / A1.1.2.1.3 / A1.2.2.1.3

Write the equation of a line in Standard Form that goes through the point (4, -6) and has a slope of -2. Slope Intercept first: -6 = -2 ‧ 4 + b -6 = -8 + b +8 +8 2 = b y = -2x + 2 Now Standard: y = -2x + 2 +2x +2x 2x + y = 2

Examples Write each equation in Standard Form. m = –2, (–4, 3) 2x + y = –5 3x – 4y = –19 3x + 8y = 9 3x – 4y = –13

Practice Write each equation in Standard Form. (–3, 4) m = –4 (–5, –6) & (–6, –9) (4, –3) & (6, –7) 4x + y = –8 5x – y = 7 3x – y = 1 x + y = –3 3x – y = –9 2x + y = 5
