Fractions: a b When a and b are whole numbers greater than 0, it is called a fraction. The number on top is called the numerator. The bottom number is called the denominator. 1 numerator 4 denominator

There are different ways to compare fractions… When the denominators are the same, you have to look at the numerator. The greater numerator, the greater the fraction. For example: 8 > 7 11 11 A way to compare fractions when the denominators are different is by cross multiplication. This is when you multiply the numerator of the first fraction by the denominator of the second fraction. And multiply the denominator of the first fraction with the numerator of the second fraction. iplky

For example: Compare using <, >, or = 36 = 3 7 = 28 4 12 3 > 7 4 12 Example 2: 3 4 5 7 Example 3: 8 9 9 10 Example 4: 1 4 2 9
