9/23/10 Day 16 TOPIC: Motion Diagrams & Word Descriptions OBJECTIVE: I can describe uniform motion through a written description STARTER: Draw the corresponding motion diagram for the runner during this 3 second time interval.

Motion Diagrams Word Descriptions from a Motion Diagram: Basic Descriptors: Start: @ the origin, away from the origin Direction: positive, negative, or other Speed: Constant, Increasing, Decreasing, or stopped Time: How many units of time

Word Descriptions from a Motion Diagram: You might write: The car started at the origin and moved in the positive direction at a constant speed for 4 units of time. Complete 1.5 Motion Diagrams and Descriptions & #2 and #3 on the back

DRAWING Motion Diagrams from Word Descriptions: Please draw this motion diagram on one reference line: Alex walked from his front door to his mailbox at a constant speed in the positive direction. It took him 4 seconds. 2. He stopped at his mailbox for 4 seconds 3. Alex returned home at a constant speed in 3 seconds

Write a verbal description Angela walks as shown in the motion diagram below. Explain what she does.
