Three Consuls At the end of the “Reign of Terror” The Directory was dissolved. In its place a group of three consuls would rule France. Napoleon was one of the consuls.

Napoleon Wins Over the People of France Napoleon rose through the ranks of the French army during the Revolution. Napoleon was the leader of the French army AFTER the Revolution In 1796 the Directory put Napoleon in charge of the French troops who successfully defeated the Austrians. He became a hero to the people of France Became leader of the military in 1799

The Coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte 1799 stages a Coup d’ etat and overthrows the corrupt French government. In 1800 a plebiscite was held approving the new constitution and giving Napoleon all the power Ruled as a Dictator and Emperor for 15 years
