To be an effective training leader, you must project competence, credibility, and enthusiasm, while using the training techniques and skills appropriate for adult learners. This session will cover the following training techniques and skills: Characteristics of adult learners Conveying information Facilitating learning The role of the facilitator Questioning techniques Nonverbal communication 1

Developing a Budget Meeting budgets should be based on anticipated revenues and estimated expenditures Use figures and expenses from past district training meetings as a guide Work with meeting’s convener to determine who will manage the meeting’s funds District Trainer’s Manual pages 58-59 Session 10 (slide 1 of 1) READ SLIDE Key points When determining a budget Use simple and straightforward financial policies and requisition methods. Prepare a careful estimate of revenue and expenses. Provide a reserve for fund deficits. Make payments dependant on the appropriate individual’s approval. Arrange for bank services and an outside audit of final accounts. Organize a purchasing system. Develop a procedure to collect registration fees and other funds raised for the meeting. Settle all bills and remit the balance, if any, to the person in charge of the meeting’s funds. Prepare a summary of financial operations for use in the next year’s planning. Obtain liability insurance as necessary, to protect the district and clubs. Understand each budget allotment and its function. Obtain the approval of the governor-elect or the governor for any substantial change in plans. (DTM, page 58) Discussion Questions: Who do you work with to determine your budget?
