Internal conflict Man vs. Self: A struggle that takes place in a t mind is called internal conflict. A character dealing with his or her own mixed feelings or emotions.

External conflict An external conflict is between a character and an outside force! Man vs. man Man vs. nature Man vs society

Man vs man A character struggles with another character, for example: Antagonist vs. protagonist.

Man vs. nature A character struggles in order to survive, against a nature force.

Man vs. society The character fights against the society where he or she lives, for example: against social traditions or social rules.

Examples: Story: Titanic!!!!

Watch the following scenes from the movie Titanic and find what the internal and external conflicts are!

Internal conflict Rose and jack fall in love but they know that being together is impossible. Rose: wants to kill herself because she Doesn't want to face her future, a no wanted marriage. Jack: knows he doesn't have anything to offer to Rose.

External conflicts, man vs man. Jack and rose have to escape her fiancé, who wants to kill them after realizing she is in love with another man.

Man vs nature Jack and Rose have to struggle against the cold ocean water if they want to survive.

Man vs. society Jack and Rose belong to different social classes, her family would never accept her to be with someone like her.
