Fresh Expressions 2009 The following presentation attempts to demonstrate the distribution of Fresh Expressions in the Methodist Church in England, Scotland and Wales. As the collection of data is dependent on individual understanding of the nature of Fresh Expressions there are occasions when the data gives a misleading overall outcome e.g. two churches in the Northampton District each put 25 and 17 as the number of Fresh Expressions evident in their church, yet between them there is only one specification (Tuesday evening service). This anomaly significantly affects the presentation of results as demonstrated in the table below. Similar anomalies are found in the Wales, Birmingham and Bristol Districts to a lesser degree.

Due to anomalies of this nature, greater clarification was needed to determine an activity that had the specific intention of encouraging and enabling discipleship. Therefore a review, concentrating on four areas of development, was applied to the collected data. Café Church Messy Church Cell Group 3rd Place

Fresh Expressions Data review The following four slides reflect an attempt to categorise named examples of Fresh Expressions in Methodist Churches. It is not a complete representation as it is difficult to establish the purpose of some entries e.g. walking trees. Therefore, copies of the original entries are available for each district on the remaining slides. The anomalies referred to previously, regarding numbers of Fresh Expressions in a particular church are also highlighted.
