Sight Words – on, get, see, we, my Mrs. Sirmon’s Kindergarten News Week of October 29th – November 2nd Focus Skills Sight Words – on, get, see, we, my Home Learning Monday Read CORE page 10.1 Complete Math page 16 Reading and Writing Identifying and retelling characters, setting, and events. Comparing and contrasting stories. Writing an opinion. Core Knowledge Blending sounds to form words and segmenting sounds to break words apart. Practicing the sound and formation of letters m, a, t, d, o, c, g, i ,n, h, s, f, v, z, p, and e AND putting these letters together to spell and read words. Math Describing shapes by their attributes (curvy, straight, number of sides/corners, 2D or 3D, vertices, and faces). Identifying triangles, rectangles, squares, hexagons, circles, cones, spheres, cylinders, and cubes. Identifying positional words behind, above, in front of, below, and beside. Science Using observations to identify weather patterns over time. Tuesday Complete CORE 11.5 and 11.6 Complete Math page sent home on 3D shapes Important Dates: October 31st – Octoberfest – Please send in the $8.00 fee for the wristband if you have not done so! November 2nd – Cookie Dough Sale Kick-off – Check your child’s folder for the fundraiser information packet! November 5th-9th –Thanksgiving Food Drive November 8th - Zoo Field Trip November 9th - Early Dismissal at12:35 p.m. November 12th-November 16th – Progress Reports sent home this week November 14th – PACT Session on Reading and Writing skills at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. November 19th - November 23rd – No School due to Thanksgiving holidays November 28th – Santa Pictures – more information will come home Wednesday Thursday Compete CORE page PP1 Complete Math page 22
