Note Taking Method Double Entry Journal Plus Notes

"This is a key quote from the text that serves as the glue of your argument" (Last name, Pg. #). In this section of the Double Entry Journal Plus note taking method, you are to provide EXTENSIVE ANALYSIS over your understanding of the text. Remember the key word here is text. You are not limited by the quote, but rather are meant to use the quote to solidify an argument. Your analysis should work on two levels: 1. It shows the author's purpose. 2. It connects your understanding of the text to the real world. Don't forget that an extensive analysis should look like a small essay. After all, the purpose of such an analysis should be to find its way into an essay. The DEJ+ note taking method especially lends itself to the body paragraph. It should be well thought out and no less than 3/4 of this side of the page. Also, do not forget to try to be impressive here. The purpose is quality and not quantity. Now that you only have to do one quote, it should not be an excuse to under perform. Think! In this section you will provide a one sentence summary over another student's analysis. -Their name here. (1st classmate) This section does not require your opinion, but rather serves to help improve your comprehension of the text. -Their name here. (2nd classmate) Remember to be specific in your description of their summary, and describe both the quote and the general idea of their analysis. -Their name here. (3rd classmate.)
