Sustainability Plan Overview https://suny.oneonta.edu/sustainability/advisory-council Charge of the President’s Advisory Council on Sustainability: To advise and make recommendations to the president on issues and concerns having to do with: Sustainability in the curriculum, co-curricular activities, and other educational activities Improving sustainability in the operations, facilities, and grounds of this college To identify opportunities to increase collaboration with the local community, other local institutions, and other campuses in the SUNY system To help communicate the goals and outcomes of sustainability initiatives

Curriculum Goal 1: Increase faculty sustainability awareness, literacy and dialogue. Offer and promote professional development and engagement opportunities Goal 2: Increase student sustainability awareness, literacy, and dialogue. “Living Laboratory”, study abroad/away, and other experiential learning opportunities Showcase and recognize Goal 3: Enhance and integrate sustainability curriculum, where applicable. Expand sustainability course designation program Sustainability/Climate Change Certificate Develop learning outcomes through shared governance

Planning and Administration Goal 1: Establish and maintain effective sustainability leadership specific to policies and procedures. Sustainable practices in offices Goal 2: Broaden access, communication and visibility of sustainability initiatives. Web page, campus tours, admissions; maintain Green Revolving Fund Goal 3: Strengthen the integration of sustainability within all campus functions. Identify best practices; Strive to exceed state mandates

Operations Goal 1: Plan, design, operate and maintain the campus in a way that reduces the consumption of natural resources. Update GHG inventory report and revise Climate Action Plan; Energy roadmap; Dining services; Water conservation; Sustainable systems in new construction; Recycling Goal 2: Use the campus facilities and operations as a “Living Laboratory,” highlighting successful integration of sustainability initiatives for educational purposes. Goal 3: Identify and enhance efficiencies in campus operations to support economic sustainability. Install renewable energy systems on campus; pursue incentive programs

Co-Curricular and Engagement Goal 1: Strengthen the awareness of sustainability initiatives across campus. Integrate into Res Life experience; Communicate consumption patterns through dashboards; Competitions Goal 2: Increase the recognition of student sustainability leaders on campus. Goal 3: Create and enhance regional partnerships to support community service and service learning opportunities in sustainability.
