Point-Slope Form

Point-Slope Form: Formula: y-y1 =m(x - x1) Do you know how to figure this out? Find slope. Substitute (x1,y1) in above equation. That’s IT! EASY PEESY, LEMON SQUEEZY!

Formula: y- y1 = m(x - x1) HOW TO FIGURE OUT Point Slope Form: If they give you the slope and 2 points, then just substitute the numbers into the formula above. A line passes through point 3,4 and a slope of ¾ . y- y1 = m(x - x1) = y- 4 = ¾ (x – 3)

Now let’s look at how to graph an equation in point-slope form: Let’s take the point slope form answer from the last example: y- 4 = ¾ (x – 3) You know that the slope is ¾ and passes through the point (3, 4) Step 1: plot point (3,4). Step 2: Use the slope to find second point, connect dots. Formula: y-y1 =m(x - x1)
