Homework Saturday, April 06, 2019 Study WOW Objective: YWBAT explain the relationship between a planet’s distance from the sun and the amount of time it takes the planet to orbit. Drill: What role did gravity play in the formation of the solar system? Homework Study WOW

Answer Gravity pulled material together toward the center of the solar system. Most material gathered at the center to form the sun. Much smaller clumps of material formed the planets.

Did you know…? Stars are born out of massive clouds of gas and dust known as nebulae and, when they die, much of the material that makes them up may become parts of other nebulae.

Closure Question What is the relationship between a planet’s distance from the sun and the amount of time it takes the planet orbit the sun?

Conclusion Answer The farther the planet is from the sun, the greater the time required to orbit the sun.
