Never On Sunday Exodus 20: 8-11

I. The Explanation of the Command The Old Testament Background “But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘You shall surely observe My sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. Exodus 31:13

I. The Explanation of the Command B. The New Testament Teachings

II. The Example of Christ The Heart – He used The Sabbath to Worship And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and as was His custom, He entered the synagogue on the Sabbath, and stood up to read. Luke 4:16

II. The Example of Christ B. The Head – He used The Sabbath to Teach They went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach. Mark 1:21

II. The Example of Christ C. The Health – He used The Sabbath to Rest “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8

II. The Example of Christ D. The Hand – Jesus used The Sabbath to Help “They went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath He entered the synagogue and began to teach. They were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, saying, “What business do we have with each other, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are--the Holy One of God!” And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” Mark 1:21-25

Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of those without strength and not just please ourselves. Each of us is to please his neighbor for his good, to his edification. For even Christ did not please Himself; but as it is written, “THE REPROACHES OF THOSE WHO REPROACHED YOU FELL ON ME.” Romans 15:1-3
