Pellagra 7th Grade Science

Write in Notebook: What are the common elements of all scientific problem solving methods?

Setting Up Go to Index and add under “S” Scientific Method & under “H” Hypothesis and list page #1 after them. In Table of Contents add “Pellagra”, date it and give it the appropriate page number. Go to that page and title it “Pellagra”

Define observation: Define inference: From this picture I made the following 3 observations:  From this picture I made the following 3 inferences:

Warm-up: 8-2-14 2.) Name 3 observations and 2 inferences about the picture.

Background on Pellagra Getting Started Background on Pellagra Challenge Question: What are the common elements of all scientific problem solving methods? (Write Question and answer it!)

Getting Started Imagine that doctors are observing a new disease, and they don’t know what causes it. What are some possible causes of diseases? What kinds of things would scientists do to learn more about a disease and its cause or causes?

Doing the activity Review video questions on handout You will view the video two times. The first time just watch it and the second time you will take notes. (5:30 sec)

Follow up Observations vs. Inferences Add these two words in your Index/glossary and give the page # for “Pellagra” Complete the observations vs. Inferences sheet on your handout

Analysis Questions Assessment system introduction Use Writing Frame to answer Analysis Question 2b, this will help you identify key components (information) necessary for a complete answer. Discussion on what a level 3 is comprised (Made-up) of.
