U.S. Federal Court System UNITED STATE SUPREME COURT Original jurisdiction only for cases between states, or involving ambassadors. Most work is on appeal, either from U.S. courts of appeal, or highest state courts. U.S. COURT OF APPEALS No original jurisdiction. Only hears cases on appeal from lower U.S. District Courts.
