Bell Work: The Number Game! Choose any number Add the next highest number to it Add 9 Divide by 2 Subtract your original number Play the game a few times. What do you notice about the results? Explain how the game works

Test 1 Corrections Test 1 corrections will be due next class (9/12) Write on a separate sheet of paper, turned in with the original test You may correct questions you missed for 3 points each, bringing your grade up as high as an 80. TO RECEIVE CREDIT You must explain what mistake you made when taking the test the first time YOU MUST SHOW ALL STEPS TO ARRIVE AT THE CORRECT ANSWER If either of these things is incomplete, you will not receive credit for that item

2.5 - Reasoning In Algebra and Geometry

Using Properties to Justify an Equation

A Two Column Proof is a form of proof A Two Column Proof is a form of proof. Each statement is listed on the left, with the justification given on the right. Each statement must follow logically from the step before it (this means you cannot skip steps!!!!)

Writing a Two Column Proof

Truth Table

Mid-Class “Exit Ticket” Discuss with your table partner what a proof is. What does it mean to prove something? Can something be disproven? What do you need to do in order to prove something? Can examples help? Then answer these questions individually and turn them in What is a proof? How do you prove something? How do you DISPROVE something? How can examples be used when proving something?

2.6 – Proving Angles are Congruent

Proofs may also be written as a paragraph proof A Theorem is a conjecture or statement that can be proven Proofs and theorems may be separated into a hypothesis and a conclusion. Then the proof will be of the form IF the hypothesis is true, THEN the conclusion is true. Proofs may also be written as a paragraph proof
