920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan January 2012 920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan The new RFID and low power wireless sensor network (WSN) band is known as the 920 MHz band. Although the new rules and conditions are still under evaluation, the current status on channelization is expected to be in effect since July 2012 without significant modifications. Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)

920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan January 2012 920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan Frequency band: 915.9 MHz to 929.7 MHz 920 MHz band option 1: 915.9 MHz to 928.1 MHz with 61 unit channels of 200 kHz. Bandwidth tolerance: (200∙n) kHz, where n=1,2,3,4,5 (maximum bandwidth = 1 MHz). 920 MHz band option 2: 928.1 MHz to 929.7 MHz with 16 unit channels of 100 kHz. Bandwidth tolerance: (100∙n) kHz, where n=1,2,3,4,5 (maximum bandwidth = 500 kHz). Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)

920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan January 2012 920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan Passive RFID Active RFID and WSN Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)

920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan January 2012 920 MHz band (sub-GHz) in Japan Based on the rules for maximum transmission power (active RFID and WSN), the 920 MHz band is divided into four bands (antenna gain of 3 dBi): Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)

Proposed sub-GHz channelization in Japan January 2012 Proposed sub-GHz channelization in Japan The proposed sub-GHz channelization is based on the maximum bandwidths of 1 MHz and 500 kHz: Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)

Proposed UWB channelization January 2012 Proposed UWB channelization It is based on 1 channel in the high band with spectrum mask: Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)

Proposed UWB channelization January 2012 Proposed UWB channelization Devices may use part of the spectrum or all available spectrum, depending on power requirements and data rate. Marco, Li, Miura (NICT)
