Bellwork Identify two materials that you would need to get for Mr. Hughes’ Class. Describe how Make-Up work is obtained in Mr. Hughes’ Class. Explain the Grading System in Mr. Hughes’ Class (Percentages).

Day One: Maps, Timelines, and Graphs Skills Boot Camp Day One: Maps, Timelines, and Graphs

Maps: How to Break them Down Step One: Read the Title The Title will give you an overview of what is being presented in the map. Step Two: Read the Key (Legend) The key will explain symbols and color codes to understand the map. Step Three: Use the tools available. Use the Compass Rose to determine direction and a Scale to determine distance.

Practice Answer the questions on the handout over the following map

Exit Ticket On the post-it note, write your name and explain which of the three skills (maps, graphs, timelines) you thought was the most difficult to break down. Explain why it was difficult for you, then post it on the board under the category you choose.

Breaking Down Graphs Step One: Read the title The title will give you an overview of what the Graph is about. Step Two: Determine what information the Graph is presenting Look at the various axis or other reference points of the graph to understand how it is read. Step Three: Read the Key Use a key (if available) to understand particular aspects about the graph.
