SQUADS CPW “9th Grade English” Learning Intentions - Today, I am going to address these College Readiness Standards in English: Conventions of Punctuation 24-27 Topic Development in Terms of Purpose and Focus 16-19 Word Choice in Terms of Style, Tone, Clarity, and Economy 20-23 Organization, Unity, and Coherence 24-27 SQUADS Success Criteria – I will know I am successful if I can: use commas to set off a word or phrase that renames or provides further detail identify the basic purpose of a phrase use the phrase most consistent with the style and tone of an academic essay determine the most appropriate transitional phrase to create logical connections
