Introduction The core mission of a school is to improve the educational achievement of all learners Intervention programs that lead to improved learner performance and improved school environment are highly appreciated Principal must ensure that, there is a good institutional culture and culture of teaching and learning Institutionalising a coaching culture within the School Management Team[SMT] benefited my school in so many ways This document presents a high level update of Zenex’s Five-Year Strategy (2014 – 2018) It proposes some refinements to the Strategy It is divided into 3 distinct areas:

Benefits of the principals support sessions  Getting more information from the Coach and HOD This information enables the Principal to know more about the programme The Principal can monitor work done Principals were able to share best practices, which influenced change for better in schools  More knowledge leads to being in control of school activities  Importance of job delegation

Establishment of a coaching culture within the School Management Team (SMT)  Grow model assisted in improving the quality of our meetings  This skill was transferred to other SMT members Goal directed  Evaluation elements  Consultations  Improved planning  Leadership qualities are built

Value of the programme to the school improvement plan Self –introspection (Weaknesses and strong points) Curriculum coverage Developmental needs of a staff: Discipline Story telling Planning of different activities for learners Key school improvement areas for the past two years Learner Achievement Basic Functionality Leadership, Management and Communication Improvement in reading as the teachers were trained on teaching and managing reading

Value of the programme to the school improvement plan  Assessment of learners’ ability to read with understanding Paring a stronger reader with a weaker reader for paired reading when reading for enjoyment Basic functionality: Clear work to be done (by whom, when, how) Time frames Teachers and HODs are now able to manage and control classroom activities Clear roles for all those involved Improvement in leadership, management and communication Sharing information Empowerment /capacity building Zenex programme can be easily changed to meet CAPS needs Strategic planning Using others to train or coach those who have not been trained
