1. The blind man and Zaccheus were social outcasts, and yet Jesus sought them out. What does that mean to you?

Luke 19: 1He entered Jericho and was passing through Luke 19: 1He entered Jericho and was passing through. 2There was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector, and he was rich. 3He was trying to see who Jesus was, but he was not able because of the crowd, since he was a short man. 4So running ahead, he climbed up a sycamore tree to see Jesus, since He was about to pass that way. 5When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down because today I must stay at your house.”

Q: Jesus wants to get up close and personal with you… Are you willing? If so, how close? How personal?

2. Just as with Zaccheus, Jesus invites us into a deeper personal relationship with Himself. How has He done that with you? How is He doing that right now?

Are you able to ignore them? Q: What are the voices (or influences) that seek to prevent you from responding to Jesus’ invitation? Are you able to ignore them? Or do they keep you from Him?

3. What are the keys to being able to follow Zaccheus’ example and respond actively to the Lord’s passionate invitation to draw near? Get practical – how do we do it?

Hebrews 12: 1Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, 2keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.

Q: How did Jesus seek you? Were you lost? If so, how? Are you lost now? How, and from what, did He save you?

4. Think about the phrases in verse 10: “to seek”, “to save”, and “the lost”. What significance do you see in each phrase? What’s your personal part in each of those?
