Introduction IPPC Article IV - Contracting party shall make provision, to the best of its ability, for an official National Plant Protection Organization Paragraph 1(a) issuance of certificates relating to the phytosanitary regulations of the importing contracting party for consignments of plants, plant products and other regulated articles

IPPC Article V Phytosanitary certification Introduction IPPC Article V Phytosanitary certification Paragraph 2 (b)Phytosanitary certificates, or their electronic equivalent where accepted by the importing contracting party concerned, shall be worded as in the models set out in the Annex to this Convention.

Phytosanitary certificate ISPM No. 12 (2001), Guidelines for phytosanitary certificates - (ISPM 1, 7, 20 & 23) This standard describes principles and guidelines for the preparation and issuance of phytosanitary certificates and phytosanitary certificates for re- export. Phytosanitary certificates are issued by NPPO of exporting country as a guarantee to the importing country that their conditions and requirements have been met

Invalid phytosanitary certificates – ISPM 12 Illegible Incomplete Period of validity expired or not complied with Inclusion of unauthorized alterations or erasures Inclusion of conflicting or inconsistent information Use of wording that is inconsistent with the model certificates herein Certification of prohibited products Non-certified copies

ePhyto solution ISPM 12 Appendix 1 PRPOPOSED SOLUTION - ePhyto solution ISPM 12 Appendix 1 ePhyto is the electronic version of a phytosanitary certificate in XML format. Is NOT a copy or scan image of a printed phytosanitary certificate that is emailed. Is a secured data set using XML for electronic transmission between the NPPO's of exporting and importing countries.
