Creating a Successful Relief Print How to get a good score on your individual print

Carve away about half of the block- remember what you carve will be the paper color- what you leave will print. Reference image: Relief print: notice how positive and negative space are about even-

Excellent design and quality relief print Reference image: This color contrast creates a great visual tension. The printing ink is clean on the edges, even and controlled.

Consider color ink and paper to get strong contrast. Reference image: Black paper creates a striking contrast with light value printing inks
